Los árboles en la historia de Cuba

Resumen

Cuba es rica en acontecimientos históricos, en muchos de los cuales han estado presentes los árboles. Una selección de 14 especies de
árboles tales como la uvilla (Coccoloba diversifolia), el tamarindo (Tamarindus indica), el jagüey (Ficus sp.), el mango (Mangifera indica), el peralejo (Byrsonima sp.), el corojo (Acrocomia crispa), la guásima (Guazuma ulmifolia), el copey (Clusia rosea), la ceiba (Ceiba pentandra), el dagame (Calycophyllum candidissimum), el fustete (Chlorophora tinctoria), el jobo (Spondias mombin), la guana (Hildegardia cubensis) y la palma real (Roystonea regia), se incluyen en este trabajo, contribuyendo al conocimiento de la presencia de los mismos en la historia de Cuba, y propiciar además el interés de las jóvenes generaciones por su cuidado y conservación y al estudio de los hechos a ellos asociados.

ABSTRACT
Cuba has a precious history in which many events, the trees have been present. A selection of 14 species such as the pigeon plum
(Coccoloba diversifolia), the tamarind (Tamarindus indica), the fig-tree (Ficus sp.), the mango (Mangifera indica), the candle berry (Byrsonima sp.), the corojo (Acrocomia crispa), the bastard cedar (Guazuma ulmifolia), the balsam tree (Clusia rosea), the silk-cotton tree (Ceiba pentandra), the dagame (Calycophyllum candidissimum), the hog-plum (Spondias mombin), the fustic (Chlorophora tinctoria), the guana (Hildegardia cubensis) and the royal palm (Roystonea regia) are included in this work, contributing to the knowledge of the presence of them in the history of Cuba and also to propiate the interest of the new generations to the care and conservation and the study of the actions associated to them.
